| Type | Method | Best For | Skill Level | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Clip-In | Clips snap onto natural hair | Beginners, occasional wear | Easy (DIY) | 1–2 years |
| Halo | Invisible wire sits on head | Zero damage, quick application | Easy (DIY) | 1–2 years |
| Tape-In | Adhesive sandwiches hair | Semi-permanent, everyday wear | Intermediate (pro recommended) | 1–2 years (reapply tape every 6–8 weeks) |
| Keratin U-Tip | Heat-fused individual bonds | Most natural, long-term wear | Professional only | 1–2 years |
| Ponytail | Claw clip attachment | Instant updos and glam | Easy (DIY) | 1–2 years |
| Clip-In Bangs | 3 clips on solid base | Try bangs without commitment | Easy (DIY) | 1–2 years |
Let's look at each one in detail:
Clip-In Extensions
What it is: A set of wefts (hair curtains) with small, silicone-lined clips sewn along the top. You section your hair, snap the clips open, press them against your scalp, and snap shut. A full set typically includes 7–10 pieces of varying widths.
Who it's best for: First-timers, people who want extensions for events or weekends, anyone who doesn't want a permanent commitment. Great for experimenting with length and volume.
Bonus: Clip-ins aren't just for wearing down — you can style them into a full, thick ponytail, braids, or updos. Clip them in, pull everything back, and you've got a glamorous ponytail look without needing a separate ponytail extension.
- No salon visit needed
- Zero damage to natural hair
- Put in and take out whenever you want
- Most affordable entry point
- Versatile styling — wear down, in a ponytail, braids, or updos
- Must be removed before sleeping
- Can feel heavy during first few wears
- Not ideal for very fine or short hair (under 4")
Halo Extensions
What it is: A single weft attached to a thin, transparent wire (the "halo") that sits on top of your head like a headband. Your natural hair falls over the wire, concealing it completely.
Who it's best for: Anyone with thinning hair, sensitive scalps, or hair loss concerns. Also perfect for people who want instant transformation with zero learning curve.
- Absolutely zero damage
- Fastest application of any method
- No pressure points on scalp
- Great for thinning hair
- Less secure for high-intensity activities
- Wire can shift if not adjusted properly
- Only adds length/volume at mid-length and below
Tape-In Extensions
What it is: Thin wefts with adhesive tape tape along the top. Two pieces sandwich a thin section of your natural hair between them. They lie completely flat against your head, making them virtually undetectable — even in updos.
Who it's best for: Daily wear with zero fuss. Once installed, you wake up with perfect hair every day. Ideal for people who want extensions but don't want to think about them.
- Most natural-looking when installed properly
- Sleep, shower, exercise — they stay in
- Lightweight and comfortable
- Reusable for 1–2 years depending on hair care
- Requires salon application and removal
- Need re-taping every 6–8 weeks as hair grows
- Oil-based products can weaken adhesive
- Higher ongoing maintenance cost
Keratin U-Tip Extensions
What it is: Individual strands tipped with a keratin bond that's melted onto small sections of your natural hair using a heat tool. This is long-lasting (1–2 years), durable, wearable hair — the most premium extension method available. This creates tiny, flexible bonds that move naturally and are nearly invisible. Typically 100–200 strands are applied for a full head.
Who it's best for: People who want the most natural, undetectable result and are willing to invest time and money. Ideal for long-term wear with a seamless finish.
- Most natural movement and appearance
- Can be styled in any direction — no weft line
- Long-lasting (1–2 years)
- Perfect for face-framing and targeted volume
- Most expensive method
- Long application time
- Professional removal required
- Not recommended for thin or fine hair — the bonds require sufficient natural hair density to hold securely
Ponytail Extensions (Claw Clip)
What it is: A thick, lush ponytail attached to a claw clip. Pull your natural hair into a bun or ponytail and clip the extension over it. Instant glamorous ponytail.
Who it's best for: Anyone who loves updos, gym-to-brunch transitions, or just wants a quick glam option without committing to full extensions.
- Literally takes seconds
- Dramatic transformation
- No damage whatsoever
- Lasts the longest (less washing needed)
- Only one style (ponytail/updo)
- Must have enough hair to form a small base bun
Clip-In Bangs (Including Curtain Bangs)
What it is: A hairpiece with a solid base and three secure clips that attaches at your hairline to give you instant bangs — straight-across, wispy, or curtain-style. Try the look without any commitment to cutting your actual hair.
Who it's best for: Anyone curious about bangs but terrified of the scissors. Also great for people growing out bangs who want the look back occasionally.
- Try bangs risk-free
- Switch between styles instantly
- Very affordable
- Can be trimmed and customized
- Requires blending if hairline color differs
- May shift if not clipped securely
✦ Length Guide
Extension length is measured in a straight line from the top of the weft to the ends. Here's where each length typically falls:
Hits collarbone to a few inches below. Perfect for adding volume and a natural-looking boost without dramatic length.
Our bestseller. Falls at mid-back — long enough to feel glamorous, short enough to be manageable daily.
Full drama. Reaches the waist on most people. Statement length for maximum impact.
✦ Weight & Volume Guide
Weight determines how much volume and thickness the extensions add. Choosing the right weight is about matching your natural hair density — not going as heavy as possible.
Fine to thin hair
A subtle boost — adds volume and length without overwhelming your natural hair. Best for finer textures or a more understated look.
Medium density hair
The sweet spot for most people. Noticeable fullness that still blends naturally. Our most popular weight.
Thick hair · Full glam
Maximum volume for a rich, luxurious, head-turning look. Matches naturally thick hair and creates that effortlessly expensive finish.
✦ Color Matching Guide
With 57+ shades available — solids, blends, piano, balayage, and ombré — finding your match is easier than you think. Here's how:
How to Match at Home
- Check in natural daylight. Bathroom and bedroom lighting distorts color. Step near a window or outside.
- Match to your mid-lengths — not your roots (usually darker) or your ends (often lighter/sun-bleached). The mid-shaft is your truest color.
- When in doubt, go slightly lighter. Lighter extensions blend more easily than darker ones, as they can pick up shadows from your natural hair.
Understanding Color Types
| Color Type | What It Means | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Solid | One uniform color throughout | Hair that's been freshly colored a single shade |
| Blend | 2–3 similar tones mixed together | Natural, multi-dimensional hair (most people) |
| Piano | Alternating streaks of two colors | Chunky highlight or lowlight looks |
| Balayage | Darker roots with hand-painted lighter ends | The classic lived-in, sun-kissed look |
| Ombré | Clear gradient from dark to light | Bold, high-contrast two-tone styles |

✦ Care Basics
Proper care keeps your Remy human hair extensions looking salon-fresh for months. Here are the essentials:
Washing
Use sulfate-free shampoo and lukewarm water. Wash every 5–10 wears (or when product builds up). Gently work shampoo downward — never scrub or bunch the hair. Condition mid-length to ends only.
Brushing
Always start from the ends and work your way up. Use a soft-bristle brush or a wide-tooth comb. Never brush when soaking wet — let them air-dry to damp first. Hold the weft at the top to avoid pulling.
Heat Styling
Safe up to 180°C / 356°F. Always use a heat protectant spray. Lower heat = longer lifespan. Air-drying when possible extends the life of your extensions significantly.
Storage
Store in the original box or a silk/satin bag. Never store wet or damp — mildew can develop. Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent color fading. Brush gently before storing.
Swimming
Avoid chlorine and salt water when possible — both are extremely drying. If you must swim, braid the hair, apply leave-in conditioner beforehand, and rinse thoroughly with fresh water immediately after.
Sleeping
Remove clip-in and halo extensions before bed. For tape-ins and keratin bonds, sleep with hair in a loose braid or silk scrunchie. Use a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction.
✦ Your Quick-Start Checklist
First time ordering extensions? Follow these five steps:
- Choose your type — Clip-in for flexibility, halo for ease, tape-in for daily wear, keratin for long-term, ponytail for updos, or bangs for a new look.
- Find your shade — Use natural daylight, match to mid-lengths. Order a swatch ring or email us a photo if unsure.
- Pick your length — 16" for subtle, 20" for versatile (our #1 pick), 24" for drama. Go one size up if you curl.
- Select your weight — Fine hair: 100g. Medium: 150g. Thick: 200g. Our Super Double Drawn quality means less weight needed.
- Order and enjoy! — Your extensions arrive ready to wear. Wash before first use is optional but recommended for removing any residual softness from packaging.
